Uphill Downdale

We were delighted to host Uphill Downdale at Crogen last year and will be welcoming them back next year for another sucessful event.  Running along the River Dee, through the forest and over moorland, there is a great variety of terrain at this event. There will be a 14km* and 25km* race. The route for both races will be one loop and two loops of one course.  Take a look below for more information and how to enter.

There is plenty of variety in terrain over the route with forest tracks, footpaths, fields, moorland and some tarmac to get you out and back.

There is a total of 365 metres* of elevation for the 14km* and 720 metres* of elevation for the 25km*

There is an entry limit of 500 (across both races) and we expect it to fill quickly, so get in now! There will also be a children's race on the day for the budding trail runners.

Our event centre provides a great family day out for both competitors and also spectators, with food and drinks available, children's activities, race commentary all at the start / finish line located in the natural ampitheatre, on the lawn in front of Crogen. Spectators will have a great view of the starters and finishers. There will be toilets provided and some shelter in the registration marquee, which hopefully we won't need. But as it is Wales you can't be sure what the weather will do so make sure you dress for the conditions and maybe bring some sun cream just in case!

Due to the fact that all our events are held on private land, we are not able to provide you with course maps. As it is private land the route cannot be run before or after the race, so please don't try. Dogs are allowed with spectators on the day, but must be kept on a lead at all times. Please clean up after your dog if necessary.

There is ample parking at the event and we charge £3 for each car. We encourage car sharing.

Have a look at the ‘The Day’ page for a full schedule of events on the day and have a look at our FAQs page for answers to more questions. If you have anything else you’d like to ask us then go to the contact us page and fill in the form or use the live chat at the bottom right of your screen. You can ask us anything you like but we’re better at answering questions about the events, we reserve the right to post silly questions to our facebook page :) www.uphilldowndale.com

What is Canicross?

Canicross is a fantastic sport where you run trails with your dog.

Its recommended you hold appropriate 3rd party insurance, just in case your dog injures someone or another dog.

In a canicross race your dog is attached to you with a bungee line, which goes round your waist. The dog wears a padded dog harness. This set up ensures maximum comfort and safety for both runner and dog.
